Blackbird manufactures and distributes its own line of clothing and accessories, but its newest addition is a lovely black licorice hand soap. Why black licorice? Because this type of candy has become the symbol of the brand after a candy store called Black Licorice opened its doors in the area in 2009.
Blackbird is located in Ballard, a Scandinavian neighbourhood in Seattle. Big fans of licorice, Scandinavians were instantly charmed by a brand that suits their particular tastes. Even a licorice festival, the Ballard Black Licorice Week, is held every November in the city, and restaurants, bars and other stores create their own licorice, anise, absinth and fennel treats for the occasion.
This extra softening hand soap ($36) smells like delicious black licorice and comes in a glass bottle with a sturdy black pump.
