Car racing enthusiasts wouldn’t miss the most awaited event of the season, the Formula 1 Montréal Grand Prix, for the world, no matter the weather! In past years, the racing weekend has been occasionally rainy or very hot and sunny. Here are my tips for enjoying the event in style, ready for every eventuality, day or evening.
Athleisure wear’s growing popularity over the last few years has resulted in some interesting new pieces for men, combining style and ultimate comfort. Porsche Design and Puma have joined forces to create a technical line of clothing for men. My favourite has to be the Bomber-style rain jacket! It’s a must-have for the event. It will make you look great and keep you dry if it rains. Plus, it’s perfect for the post-race parties on cooler evenings.
Why not opt for a short-sleeved shirt by Montréal brand Naked & Famous under that jacket? Made of Japanese cotton in original patterns, it will keep you cool and looking stylish. The shorter length is ideal if you prefer to leave it untucked. Wear it open over a white t-shirt, with shorts during the day or dressier cropped pants in the evening.
Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes! Leather sneakers by Common Project pair well with any outfit, whether chic or casual. I love the grey pair for their versatility.
For when the sun is blazing down on the racetrack, make sure you have on a good antiperspirant—I like Degree’s effectiveness—and bring a pair of sunglasses to cut the glare. Sports-style sunglasses are gaining popularity, which is great, since they offer higher performance. My top picks are Oakley Prizms—they’re comfortable and add a splash of colour to a more sober outfit. You can even personalize your glasses by selecting the frame and the colour of the lens.
Don’t forget a hat to protect you from the sun. Opt for a baseball hat promoting your favourite race team or a more stylish, neutral, elegant and lightweight hat, like Brunello Cucinelli’s 100% wool baseball cap with breathable cotton lining.
No matter what you decide to wear, know what it’s possible to combine comfort and style to fully enjoy the event and all the festivities. Happy Grand Prix!
