When Bentley decided to offer a more affordable and more fuel-efficient Continental GT, they did what other carmakers do: They introduced a smaller engine, in the 2013 Continental GT V8.
Devotees of horsepower need not fret; the new V8 produces 500 horsepower. It’s available in the $191,400USD Continental GT V8, and in the $210,000USD Continental GTC V8 convertible (Bentley published pricing in U.S. dollars), representing a 10-percent reduction in pricing over 567-horsepower 12-cylinder models.
The V8 is 40 percent more fuel efficient than the W12. Performance is nonetheless high on the list of priorities, and the GT V8 manages a 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 303 km/h.
Lovers of luxury can rejoice because both V8 models are available in a choice of seven exterior colours and four interior leather colours, though if you’re exceptionally picky, you can also choose from the 17 exterior colours, 17 leather colours and various interior veneers available on the GT W12.
