The best action camera—those rugged cameras used to catch the physical feats of thrill-seeker types, by attaching to a helmet, for example—the Hero by GoPro, improved again with the unveiling of the new GoPro Hero3Black Edition, a robust camera capable of filming in 4K resolution.
4K resolution, also called ultra high-definition, is four times larger than regular 1080p HD resolution. Unfortunately, there are few such devices available to the public at the moment. Also unfortunate, the Hero3 Black Edition only films in 4K at 12 images per second.
At the other resolutions, the situation improves considerably, filming 60 images per second at a 1080p resolution. Note that this camera can also take 12 megapixel photos (up to 30 images per second), is Wi-Fi enabled (Wi-Fi remote included) and comes in a sturdy case that can be plunged in up to 60 metres of water.
