After its first foray into the world of watches, Sony has returned with a vengeance. The new and improved SmartWatch 2 features revamped software, water-resistant design and NFC connectivity, making it all the more user friendly and attractive.
The SmartWatch 2, slightly bigger than its predecessor (41.6 mm x 41.1 mm versus 36 mm x 36 mm for last year’s model), has a larger screen measuring 1.6 inches diagonally as opposed to 1.3 inches, with a resolution between 128 x 128 pixels and 220 x 176 pixels.
This new timepiece acts as a second screen for your Android phone for viewing your notifications, making and receiving calls, and downloading apps (such as for jogging), etc. Expect to use it for about four days before having to recharge the battery.
The Sony SmartWatch 2 comes with a detachable stainless steel wristband, which can be replaced with any standard 24 mm strap.
Anticipated launch date is September 2013.
